Bhavans-Bahrain Indian School (BIS) celebrated International Day of Yoga with an energetic programme, in line with this year’s global theme ‘Yoga for healthy ageing’.
The event raised awareness about yoga as a holistic practice that supports preventive healthcare and lifelong wellness. It encouraged students to adopt healthy lifestyle habits, improve physical fitness and flexibility, strengthen concentration and emotional balance, and develop discipline and stress management skills.
To ensure active participation, the sessions were conducted in three groups for grades one to four, five to eight, and nine to 12. The Physical Education Department faculty guided participants through structured asanas and pranayama techniques while explaining their health benefits.
The exercises focused on improving posture, flexibility, digestion, respiratory health and overall strength, while also promoting mental clarity and relaxation.
