Applied Science University (ASU) has achieved a new global milestone, further strengthening Bahrain’s position as a regional and international hub for higher education.
The institution ranked first among private universities in the kingdom and joint first locally in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings (THE) 2026.
Additionally, it was listed on the 101-200 band in the overall international ranking, reflecting its strong academic accomplishments.
The performance table is one of the most prominent global classifications measuring universities’ impact in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), through their contributions to quality education, scientific research, community service, partnerships, governance and initiatives that create a positive impact on society.
The results highlighted ASU’s excellence across SDGs: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions; No Poverty; Quality Education and Partnerships for the Goals, reflecting its commitment to providing high-quality education, promoting applied scientific research, serving the community and nurturing graduates capable of contributing to national development and the labour market.

ASU chairman Prof Waheeb Al Khaja and president Prof Hatem Masri extended their congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
They highlighted the kingdom’s support to the higher education sector and its commitment to developing education, strengthening competitiveness and reinforcing Bahrain’s position as a hub for international students.
Additionally, the university expressed appreciation for the pivotal role played by the Higher Education Council, chaired by Education Minister Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma.
Prof Al Khaja attributed the latest achievement to clear strategic vision, sustained institutional efforts and continuous investment in the quality of education, academic infrastructure, international partnerships and scientific research.
For his part, Prof Masri highlighted the university’s commitment to providing students with an outstanding educational experience based on quality, innovation, practical application and strong alignment with the labour market.
He commended the graduates, students, academic staff and administrative team, affirming that ASU will continue to develop its academic programmes, expand its local and international partnerships, and enhance opportunities for students in training, employment and entrepreneurship.
