Refreshments were distributed to 200 workers at a construction site in Galali, as part of an annual summer programme to ensure worker safety during sweltering summer months.
The initiative, Thirst Quenchers 2026, was organised by the Indian Community Welfare Association with the support of the Labour Ministry, the Labour Market Regulatory Authority and the UN’s International Organisation for Migration.
Water, juice, laban and fresh fruits were handed out at a Mohammed Jalal Contracting Company worksite. Volunteers included students and members of the Bohra community.
Association chairman VK Thomas and other officials were present, in addition to health and safety officers from the company.
