A woman was arrested for allegedly posting a sectarian comment on social media that ‘could lead to societal discord’.
According to the Public Prosecution, as part of its ongoing monitoring of social media platforms, a comment ‘containing sectarian sentiment’ was reportedly spotted by the Cybercrimes Prosecution.
The Public Prosecution immediately launched an investigation, reviewed the comment in question, and questioned the defendant.
She acknowledged ownership of the account and admitted to posting the comment. The Public Prosecution subsequently ordered her remand in custody pending investigation and referred the case to the Criminal Court.
