Bahrain will experience a spell of strong northwesterly winds beginning today, the Meteorological Directorate at the Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry has warned.
According to the forecast, winds will be moderate to active today before strengthening to become strong at times from tomorrow. The unsettled conditions are expected to persist until early next week.
The directorate said the northwesterly winds will bring a relative drop in humidity, making the heat feel less oppressive despite the continuation of hot summer weather.
It also cautioned that blowing dust and sand may develop in exposed areas, temporarily reducing horizontal visibility.
At sea, the prolonged strong winds are expected to generate rough conditions, with wave heights increasing at times, particularly in open waters. The weather may therefore be unsuitable for some marine activities during the forecast period.
