According to a ministry statement, a police patrol stopped the 33-year-old suspect during a routine check and discovered he was the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant. While officers attempted to detain him, the suspect resisted and stabbed one of the officers with a knife.
The officer sustained two stab wounds, one to the neck and another to his thigh. Other officers at the scene reacted to the assault in accordance with the law and shot the suspect, the ministry added.
