BASKETBALL – BAHRAIN’s under-23 3x3 basketball national teams have stepped up their preparations for the Fiba 3x3 Youth Nations League 2026.
Six stops for Asia West/Pacific teams will be held from August 20 to 26 in Singapore, and the kingdom is expected to compete in both the men’s and women’s tournaments.
The nationals have been training locally under the supervision of coaches Murtadha Mohammed and Bogdan Dragovic, and with the participation of Bahrain’s senior men’s 3x3 national team players Uros Ilic and Austin Ajukwa.
Bahrain are currently one of six nations taking part in both the men’s and women’s events in Singapore. The others are Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkmenistan, Australia, and the host Singaporeans. The Fiba 3x3 Youth Nations League is a national teams competition designed by Fiba to develop the next generation of 3x3 basketball players.
Action is held in both under-23 and under-21 categories for both men and women, giving rising talent a competitive platform to gain international experience.
Other stops are being held all over the world, and Bahrain are competing in the West Asia/Pacific event for the first time.
The Singapore tournaments also act as qualification for the Fiba 3x3 U23 World Cup, which is to be held in Hubei, China, from September 15 to 19.
