BASKETBALL – Bahrain’s youth men’s basketball national team star Hassan Abdulkadir has been selected to participate in the prestigious Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Next Up 2026 camp, organised by the NBA and Fiba in co-operation with the Turkish Basketball Federation.
This was confirmed yesterday by the Bahrain Basketball Association.
The event is to be held from Wednesday to Saturday at Basketbol Gelişim Merkezi in Istanbul, Türkiye.
Abdulkadir will be part of an 80-strong group of the world’s top high school basketball talents, as part of the first edition of the BWB’s new Next Up format.
The programme includes physical tests, skills development training, 3x3 and five-on-five basketball competitions, and life skills workshops – all led by a select group of current and former NBA and Fiba players and coaches, including superstar players Vlade Divac, Danilo Gallinari, Brook Lopez and Khris Middleton, among others.
Abdulkadir’s selection comes after his outstanding performances with Bahrain’s youth national team, marking a significant milestone in his career and reflecting the strong presence of Bahraini talent in leading international player discovery and development initiatives.
This participation also represents a continuation of Bahrain’s participation in BWB.
Senior men’s national team star guard Mustafa Hussain was part of the BWB Asia 2019 camp held in Tokyo, Japan, where he was crowned champion of the boys’ three-point shootout competition.
