Over the past 15 years, Youth City 2030 has established itself as far more than a youth-focused event. It has become a national platform where ambition meets opportunity, knowledge meets experience, and creativity is transformed into action. In its 15th edition, the initiative continued its mission of empowering young people and equipping them with practical skills through a diverse range of pathways covering leadership and entrepreneurship, media and entertainment, arts and culture, science and technology, and sports. Together, these areas contribute to preparing young Bahrainis for the demands of the labour market and a future defined by rapid change.
Perhaps what distinguishes this experience most is that it goes beyond theoretical knowledge. It places young people in practical environments where they can discover their abilities, develop their skills, work as part of a team and face challenges with confidence. This is where the true value of initiatives such as Youth City 2030 lies: in their ability to move young people from being passive recipients of knowledge to becoming active participants, creators and problem-solvers.
The visit of His Majesty King Hamad to Youth City 2030 was an exceptional milestone in its journey and a powerful message of appreciation and confidence in Bahraini youth. His Majesty’s engagement with young participants, and his interest in their projects and creative work, reflects a firm belief that young people are not simply a resource reserved for the future, but essential partners in the present and in the kingdom’s ongoing development journey.
This royal support is far more than a symbolic gesture. It reflects a firmly established national approach that recognises youth empowerment as a long-term investment in Bahrain’s future. Providing young people with opportunities, listening to their aspirations and creating spaces where they can transform their ideas and ambitions into tangible achievements are all elements of a forward-looking vision aimed at building a generation equipped with the knowledge, confidence and capabilities needed to assume the responsibilities of tomorrow.
It is therefore fitting to express our appreciation to the King for this generous support, which gives Bahraini youth an added sense of confidence and reinforces the message that their aspirations have a meaningful place in the nation’s development journey. This approach deserves recognition for its underlying belief that investing in people is the foundation of sustainable development, and that empowering young people is not a temporary undertaking, but a national responsibility and an investment in generations to come.
The continued presence and support of His Majesty’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa has also played an important role in strengthening Youth City 2030 and developing its programmes over the years. His visit to the 15th edition reflected his continued interest in Bahrain’s youth, as he toured the programmes and pathways, met participants and viewed some of their creative work.
The success of Youth City 2030 cannot be separated from the wider national approach to investing in Bahrain’s human capital. The government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, continues to support initiatives aimed at developing young people’s capabilities, strengthening their readiness and aligning their skills with the needs of the future.
