A series of awareness lectures for school bus drivers in the public and private sectors was recently organised by the General Directorate of Traffic as part of preparations for the new academic year.
The lectures come as part of efforts to promote compliance with safe transport requirements and traffic regulations and contribute to student safety and the smooth flow of traffic around schools.
The directorate stressed the importance of drivers adhering to legal speed limits, carrying the permitted number of passengers and using designated parking areas, as well as co-operating with community police officers and school guards to regulate traffic and enhance safety.
Parents have also been urged to ensure they only take out contracts with professional drivers who have obtained the necessary licences from the Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry that allows them to provide safe and secure student transportation services.
