Bahrain strongly condemned and denounced the repeated Iranian missile and drone attacks on the State of Kuwait, stressing that they constitute a flagrant violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and security, a grave breach of international law and the UN Charter, and a violation of the principles of good-neighbourliness and UN Security Council Resolution 2817. Bahrain added that the attacks undermine de-escalation efforts and threaten regional security and stability.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Bahrain’s full solidarity with Kuwait and its support for all measures taken to defend its sovereignty, security and stability, and protect its citizens and residents, in accordance with international law and Article 51 of the UN Charter. It stresses that Kuwait’s security is an integral part of Bahrain’s national security, commending the readiness and effectiveness of the Kuwaiti armed forces and air defences in repelling the attacks.
The Ministry renewed Bahrain’s call on the UN Security Council to fulfil its responsibilities and take firm and deterrent measures to ensure Iran complies with its obligations under international law and relevant international resolutions and understandings, and to halt its attacks against the countries and peoples of the region. It also calls for safeguarding the security and safety of maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and other vital waterways, preventing maritime piracy, and supporting regional and international peace, security and stability.
