Charities across Bahrain are stepping up their back-to-school campaigns to ensure children have the supplies and support they need to begin the new academic year well prepared.
This comes as thousands of students returned to government schools yesterday, while private schools across the kingdom resumed classes earlier this week.
Our Responsibility, a Bahraini non-profit organisation, is appealing for donations of school essentials for orphans and children in need. The campaign is seeking books, stationery, school bags, uniforms and shoes.
“Every child deserves to start school feeling ready,” the group said in a statement. “Your support can provide the essentials they need to grow, learn and dream bigger. A small gift today can shape a brighter future tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, Shahzaib’s Clubhouse has extended its school supply drive for another week, with the initiative supporting students and young adults with special needs.
The organisation is collecting backpacks and other essential school supplies, including notebooks, pencils, pens, erasers, markers, crayons, paints and storybooks.
“New and preloved items are accepted,” the group said in a statement, adding that donations can be dropped off at the Bahrain Rugby Football Club until tomorrow.
Other charitable organisations have also launched initiatives to help families meet the costs of returning to school, with campaigns calling for both financial assistance and physical donations.
Kaaf Humanitarian, Isa Town Charity Society and A’ali Social Charity Society are among those that have appealed to the public for support.
In a recent initiative, the Rotary Clubs of Salmaniya and Seef Bahrain, together with ISACA Bahrain and members of the Dawoodi Bohra community, distributed school bags to children supported by local charities.
Beneficiaries included A’ali Social Charity Society, Al Sanabel Orphan Care Society and Tree of Life Society, among others.
