Applied Science University (ASU) has aligned its architectural and civil engineering programmes with Bahrain’s nationwide transition towards Building Information Modelling (BIM) and digital construction.
As the kingdom drives digital adoption across infrastructure sectors, ASU prepares students through curriculums integrating digital engineering, sustainability and modern industry practices. This national strategy links three-dimensional BIM (3D BIM) with artificial intelligence to enhance project planning, identify design clashes, optimise resources and reduce development costs.
Delivered through an academic partnership with London South Bank University (LSBU) in the UK, the tracks offer an internationally oriented experience. Graduates earn dual degrees from both ASU and LSBU, boosting competitiveness across Bahrain, the GCC and international job markets.
The architectural engineering track covers building design, environmental systems and construction management, equipping students with digital skills to improve operational efficiency.
Meanwhile, the civil engineering programme focuses on essential infrastructure, utilising Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to support data-driven stormwater management and sustainable planning.
Both programmes are the first in Bahrain to receive global accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). To support enrolment, ASU offers partial scholarships ranging from 25 per cent to 35pc, depending on secondary-school academic performance.
Through these targeted initiatives, ASU students develop the vital digital capabilities needed to build the smart cities of tomorrow.
