Bahrain could give its home-grown industries a significant boost by making government entities buy locally manufactured products under proposed legislation unanimously backed by the Shura Council.
The proposed amendments to the 1985 National Industries Protection and Support Law would introduce a mandatory list of national products for government purchases, alongside minimum local content requirements for companies bidding for public contracts .
