BAHRAIN’S national military football team coach Miroslav Soukup of Czech Republic yesterday announced a 23-man squad to take part in the CISM Football World Cup to be held in Muscat from January 15 to 29.
Soukup, who is the Bahrain national team coach, agreed to takeover the Military team following an agreement between Bahrain Football Association (BFA) and Bahrain Military Sports Association (BMSA).
Both sides agreed to the pact as most of the national team players can also represent the Military National Team due to the nature of their jobs in the security forces.
The 23-man squad includes Sayed Mohamemd Jaffar, Abdulkarim Fardan, Sayed Mohsin Ali, Essa Ghaleb, Mohammed Al Rumaihi, Waleed Al Hayam, Mohammed Al Tayeb, Dia Said, Kameel Al Aswad, Abdulla Yousif, Abdulla Abdo, Ahmed Juma, Mohammed Adel, Sayed Redha Essa, Ahmed Abdulla, Ebrahim Habib, Ali Khalil, Abbas Al Sary, Jassim Al Shaikh, Al Sayed Mujtaby Alawi, Mahdi Taradah, Ismail Abdellatif and Kameel Al Atham.
Bahrain are in Group ‘A’ with hosts Oman, France and Guinea.
Their opening game will be against France on January 16. They face Oman on January 18 and Guinea on January 20.
Sixteen teams are split into four groups with the top two qualifying for the quarter-finals to be held on January 24.
The semi-finals are scheduled for January 26 and the final for January 28.
