THE Nepalese community yesterday welcomed the appointment of Padam Sundas as its new envoy to Bahrain.
The social activist was nominated for the post by the previous Nepalese government but the order was put on hold due to a Cabinet change in the country last year, according to a report in The Himalayan Times on Monday.
The Non-Resident Nepali Association Bahrain chapter spokesman Tej Sapkota said the appointment will help boost bilateral trade between the two countries.
“Several caretaker ambassadors have headed the Nepalese embassy in Bahrain which was set up in 2013,” said Mr Sapkota.
“The appointment of a full-time envoy is also expected to help resolve various labour issues.”
