An expatriate man living in Qatar was diagnosed with the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV).
The 29-year-old who works as a camel breeder was admitted to Hamad General Hospital was found suffering from acute pneumonia.
Further tests at the accredited Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), the main provider of secondary and tertiary healthcare in Qatar, confirmed the initial diagnosis.
“The patient who did not travel abroad over the past the two weeks does not suffer from any chronic diseases”, said the Ministry of Health, adding that he is now in stable condition.
The Ministry of Health has so far surveyed 21 MERS cases since the outbreak of the disease, out of these 7 patients have died.
