There seem to be no signs of comfort for Bollywood actor Salman Khan in the ongoing hit-and-run case of 2002.
It was only on Monday, that Salman’s driver, Ashok Singh, told the court that he was at the wheel at the time of the accident. However resuming the final
arguments on Wednesday, public prosecutor Pradeep Gharat told Additional Sessions Judge D.W. Deshpande that till now there has been no mention of a fourth person in the vehicle.
Gharat also questioned the plausibility of the driver’s statement. Ashok told the court that due to a tyre burst he lost control over the vehicle.
To which the prosecutor has argued that Toyota Land Cruiser is a sophisticated vehicle that would have indicated any problem to the driver.
Gharat, therefore, has requested the court to reject Ashok’s statement in the matter.
Ashok had deposed before the court on Monday, that he was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. Following a tyre burst he lost control and before he could apply
the brakes the vehicle climbed the steps of the American Express Bakery, killing a sleeping pavement dweller and injuring four others.
