Riyadh – The curtain fell on the first Saudi-made robot named “Musalim” – which means “Peaceful”.
The humanoid is the brainchild of Saudi Dr. Faisal Salim Al-Sarheed, who built the robot as part of a scientific research project.
“Musalim” is believed to be the first humanoid robot to speak standard Arabic and Saudi dialect.
Dr. Al-Sarheed said that he managed to build the robot “Musalim”, in eight months of continuous work, using Saudi-made components which were printed using the 3-D technology.
The robot can recite some Quran verses, Prophet’s Hadiths, in addition to useful key facts about Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The project which was supported by the Saudi e-University in Dammam, was commended by the UAE Minister of Artificial Intelligence. It featured in a special news report on the first Saudi TV Channel.
Dr. Al-Sarheed graduated with MA and Ph.D. in artificial intelligence from Britain.
