A BAHRAINI housewife says she tried repeatedly to stop a woman walking out of her house naked.
The 57-year-old has told prosecutors she attempted multiple times to prevent the 32-year-old Italian woman leaving her home without any clothes.
Footage of the latter later went viral last month as she was filmed walking naked in broad daylight down the middle of a busy highway near Salmabad.
“I heard screams and shouting and I was shocked,” the Bahraini woman told prosecutors.
“I rushed downstairs and I saw my son’s girlfriend in an abnormal state.
“She was naked and screaming at my son.
“My son attempted to calm her down, but she was furious.
“She was trying to leave the house naked and I brought a blanket to cover her, but she pushed me against the wall.
“She also overpowered my son and managed to leave the house naked.
“I do not know why she was acting this way.”
The housewife’s statement is included in court documents submitted to the High Criminal Court, where both the Italian woman and her 30-year-old Bahraini boyfriend are standing trial.
However, the Italian woman has pleaded not guilty to using drugs, public indecency and assaulting and insulting police officers who arrested her.
The male defendant has denied a charge of using drugs.
They are both accused of getting high on hashish, crystal meth, known locally as shabu, and MDMA (ecstasy), according to court documents.
The woman was arrested on November 3 after walking naked along Shaikh Salman Highway, near Salmabad.
A 30-year-old Palestinian man has told prosecutors she punched him in the face when he tried to come to her aid.
He also told prosecutors that she struck an elderly man who had tried to cover her.
Meanwhile, a policeman at the scene recalled how he tried to calm her down after she became “enraged”.
The trial is due to resume on Wednesday.
