Vienna: Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Yaacoub Al-Sanaie has stated that Kuwait is interested in establishing strong relations with the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA).
In statements to KUNA and the Kuwait TV upon arrival in Vienna to attend the fourth session of IACA's Assembly of Parties, scheduled December 9-11, Al-Sanaie said Kuwait has joined the IACA and is following up the its programs.
Kuwait seeks to boost its cooperation and experience exchange with the IACA with a view to helping it fight corruption effectively, he said.
Minister Al-Sanaie is heading a Kuwaiti delegation to the IACA fourth assembly.
The International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) is an international organization based in Laxenburg, Austria. The Academy provides a new, holistic approach to anti-corruption education and research, delivers and facilitates anti-corruption training for practitioners from all sectors of society, and provides technical support and assistance to a wide variety of stakeholders.
It offers standardized and tailor-made trainings, academic degree programs, opportunities for dialogue and networking, anti-corruption think-tank and benchmarking activities.
The fourth session of IACA's Assembly of Parties will start on 9 December will concentrate on the Academy's overall policy as well as key issues regarding the work program, financing, and elections in the Board of Governors. More than 200 delegates from Parties and
Observers to the IACA Agreement are expected.
Two side events are also on the agenda for 10 December. The first is a panel discussion on the nexus between corruption and security with Sarah Chayes from the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace as well as senior representatives from UNODC, the OSCE, and others. It is co-sponsored by the United States' State Department.
The second side-event aims to raise awareness on the importance of anti-corruption education and training, particularly in view of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Participants will have a chance to hear from IACA students and faculty about how the organization's programs and activities have impacted them and the communities they serve.
