MANAMA: A new BD52 million mall set to open by the end of the year will be home to the largest mall entertainment facility in the kingdom with the opening of Funscape World.
Operated by a newly established Bahraini entertainment company, Funscape World will consist of four different zones – Funscape Play, Funscape Adventure, Funscape Sport and Funscape Ice.
Spread over 1,085sqm, Funscape Ice will feature an ice-skating rink that will run all year, offering skating lessons, hosting shows and even tournaments.
Funscape Play is being developed as an indoor play centre and amusement park covering 2,210sqm, with attractions that include drop tower, rollercoaster, video arcades, bumper cars, carnival games, token redemption games and soft play for toddlers.
Funscape Adventure, which occupies 517sqm of the entertainment facility, will feature wall-climbing facilities reaching up to 12 metres in height, rope courses (for both children and adults), a children’s zipline and a 20-metre-high zipline for adults.
Spread over 1,848sqm, Funscape Sport’s highlights are two five-a-side football spaces with FIFA approved turf.
This zone is set to include indoor sporting facilities, changing rooms; private locker services, robot-goalkeeper challenges and NBA styled basketball experiences.
Development and fit-outs of the Funscape zones are 40 per cent complete, with the décor and cladding works currently underway.
State-of-the-art rides and facilities are being shipped in from Italy, the US, Spain and Bulgaria, said the developer.
“A highly experienced technical team with years of experience will be overseeing all facilities at Funscape World to ensure that the necessary safety standards and practices will be adhered to,” said Funscape World operations manager Hesham Al Haddad.
“We look forward to the launch of the mall and are excited by the progress we are making in the development and fit-outs of the zones with each passing day.”
The crescent-shaped Mall of Dilmunia is located on Dilmunia island, where it will overlook a canal and green landscaping.
As reported by the GDN earlier, the mall will also feature the largest atrium in Bahrain, a 16-metre-tall cylindrical aquarium, a 100-metre LED screen ceiling and an open-air sky terrace.
The mall will be home to 220 retail outlets on a total built-up area of 125,000sqm, while shoppers can park in more than 1,000 spaces.
A $1.6 billion man-made island city off the north-eastern coast of Muharraq, Dilmunia has a health and wellness theme including residences, hotels and leisure and shopping districts.
