Gelatin is a translucent, colourless, odourless, and nearly tasteless substance.
According to peta.org, Gelatin is a protein obtained by boiling skin, tendons, ligaments, and/or bones with water. It is usually obtained from cows or pigs. It is used in a lot of consumer products like shampoos, face masks, and other cosmetics.
Also as a thickener for fruit gelatins and puddings (such as Jell-O), marshmallows and in vitamins as a coating.
Gelatin is not vegan.
There are vegan alternatives to gelatin, a product called ‘agar agar’ sometimes marketed as ‘gelatin’ is vegan. It is derived from a type of seaweed, according to peta.org.
