I READ the article ‘Taiwan’s pride, Bahrain’s joy’ in yesterday’s GDN.
There is only one China in the world and Taiwan is part of China, which is widely recognised by the international community.
‘One China’ principle is a core principle embodied in the UN General Assembly Resolution 2758.
Bahrain always pursues and upholds the ‘One China’ policy. So, Taiwan cannot be called a country at any time and on any occasion.
Unfortunately, in the above article there are at least two points of errors which are basically wrong.
Firstly, in the third paragraph you said that “the project is an ongoing partnership between the two countries”; Taiwan cannot be called a country.
Secondly, in the 25th paragraph, you said: “Today, the country exports watermelon seeds to more than 50 countries.” Again, Taiwan cannot be regarded as a country.
So, there are two commonsense mistakes in your article.
GDN is a major English newspaper in Bahrain and attracts a lot of readers. It should deliver correct information and cannot make common mistakes.
