MANAMA: Qatari TV channel Al Jazeera has been condemned for broadcasting programmes that violate principles laid out at the AlUla Summit.
Information Minister Ali Al Romaihi said these principles include non-interference in countries’ domestic affairs, security co-operation, respect for sovereignty of the GCC states and combating terrorism and extremist organisations.
“The programme hosted a guest who does not have a political or social presence in Bahrain or the region. He is wanted by the security authorities, has external links and incites hatred, violence and terrorism,” Mr Al Romaihi said.
He affirmed that such “an offensive programme” has been widely rejected by Bahrainis. “Bahrain is a state of law and institutions, and everyone is aware of its commitment to all the agreements and covenants signed with GCC countries, Arab states and the entire world. Commitment to agreements is an integral part of the kingdom’s traditions.”
