Citizens and residents were urged to commit to mandatory precautionary measures during the Eid Al Fitr holiday.
Members of the National Taskforce for combating Covid-19 warned against any laxity or complacency which would cause a surge in infections.
They stressed the importance of protecting the elderly, patients suffering from chronic diseases and other vulnerable categories.
Speaking to our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej, task force members and citizens urged the public to support national efforts to curb the pandemic, adding that compliance with health protocols is the first line of defence.
The call follows the announcement of the task force reopening certain sectors and outlets to vaccinated or recovered citizens, residents and visitors from the first day of Eid Al Fitr.
“Commitment to precautionary measures is crucial to protect society and support national efforts to combat the pandemic,” they said.
They advised people to stay safe at home, as much as possible, and take to social media to exchange Eid greetings, instead of family visits and gatherings.
“The pandemic has forced us to adopt new ways of celebrating religious and social events,” they said, urging to restrict Eid gatherings to family members and relatives, respect social distancing and wear face masks.
“It is our duty to back frontline medical teams and health professionals who are making great sacrifices to protect everyone’s safety and enable Bahrain to return to normalcy.
