MANAMA: Hala Turk’s father has won custody of the teenage singer and her brother.
The Sharia court ruled in favour of the father after the parents went to court over the custodianship.
The father’s lawyer said the court asked the siblings to choose between the parents and both chose the father.
The court noted that the mother had violated one of the main conditions of good custodianship – honesty.
She embezzled money from her daughter which meant that she was after her own interest and not that of her children.
The ruling is final and the mother cannot appeal against it. The mother had previously received a prison sentence.
She applied for an alternative punishment and the sentence was changed to community work.
