Acclaimed artist Kadim Al Sahir is set to make a return with an all-new Iraqi dialect album titled 'Mata?' (When?), due for release today at 7pm.
The highly anticipated production marks the latest chapter in the glittering career of the Iraqi superstar, who has captivated audiences across the Arab world and beyond for more than four decades.
Mr Al Sahir, 68, born on September 12, 1957, remains one of the most celebrated artists in Arabic music history, with more than 100 million albums sold globally. Widely recognised for blending classical Arabic poetry with rich orchestral arrangements, he has earned a devoted following and the enduring nickname 'Caesar'.
The new album follows his previous studio release “Maa Alhob,” which came out in early 2025 and received widespread acclaim from fans and critics alike.
A favourite among Bahrain audiences, Mr Al Sahir has staged numerous sold-out concerts in the kingdom over the years, drawing thousands of fans with his emotional ballads.
Known for composing much of his own work, the multi-instrumentalist plays both the oud and guitar and has collaborated with some of the Arab world’s most celebrated poets, most notably the late Nizar Qabbani.
His career has also crossed international borders through collaborations with global stars, including Sarah Brightman and legendary producer Quincy Jones.
Among his most iconic songs are Ana Wa Layla, which was ranked among the world’s top songs by the BBC, alongside beloved classics Zidini Ishqan and Qooli Ohibboka.
Beyond music, Mr Al Sahir has also built a reputation for humanitarian work and was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 2011, using his global platform to advocate for children and communities affected by conflict.
