MANAMA: Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani has conveyed His Majesty King Hamad’s affirmation of Bahrain’s support for Libya’s efforts to lay the foundations of security, stability and peace.
This came as Dr Al Zayani took part in the Libya Stabilisation Conference in Tripoli, in the presence of Libya’s Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah.
He expressed Bahrain’s appreciation of all efforts being made to achieve a political settlement to the Libyan crisis that meets the aspirations of its people for peace, stability, development and prosperity and ends the decade-long sufferings.
Libya’s prime minister and several foreign powers endorsed the holding of a national election on December 24 as envisaged in a UN-backed peace plan aimed at resolving years of turmoil and division.
Dbeibah said it was possible to end the crisis that has engulfed the country since the Nato-backed uprising that toppled Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
