Around 1,500 students representing 15 schools will take part in the Faber Castell Spectra 2021 competition next month.
The event on December 10 is being organised by the Indian Community Relief Fund (ICRF), under the patronage of the Indian Embassy, and will be staged online similar to last year’s event.
Participants will be divided into four age groups – five to eight years, eight to 11, 11 to 14 years and 14 to 18. Participation is only allowed through schools and educational institutions.
All participants in the 12th annual version will be provided with drawing paper and materials.
The top three in each category would receive individual trophies and certificates.
The winning entries and other outstanding creations by the children will feature in the charity’s much-anticipated 2022 wall and desktop calendars popular with sponsors, companies, banks, clubs and associations, a media briefing yesterday in Juffair heard.
Net proceeds from the competition will go towards a welfare fund to provide relief to support the families of deceased low-paid Indian labourers.
The scheme, since its inception, has supported hundreds of families.
Meanwhile, in addition to the national competition, an international online competition Spectra 2021, open to school pupils across the globe, will also be held separately.
