I HAVE written a lot about the disgusting, irresponsible and flawed statements made by some MPs but one of the latest goes on to show how they mock citizens who they represent in Parliament.
Thankfully, only a few actually fall for their utterances because most of the people are highly educated and aware of what is going on.
One of these representatives said recently the government should postpone collecting loan instalments and even went to the extent of saying the loans should be cancelled altogether. The member justified the demand and said this would do the people of Bahrain a lot of good.
Is this some kind of a joke? Does this representative reside on Mars? Is it fair to just cancel the loans even when it is well known many have taken loans to buy luxury goods like cars and jewellery or even to travel?
Of course, there are those who borrowed for essentials and for emergencies and there are others who managed their finances well and did not have the need to borrow.
When these representatives are not able to stop the increase in taxes and get an annual increase in retirement pensions, how can they just make this unreasonable demand?
This statement, I am sure, has offended most people but, fortunately, most people are laughing their heads off because they know this is only to serve their selfish political interests.
Have some sense, my dears, for the people will not be fooled and do not try and offend them since it will only backfire on you. Do not become a laughing stock and work for the good of the population and not offend them.
