A UAE-based Indian artist has set a Guinness World Record for his massive portrait of the country's rulers.
Sarans K K has been entered into the prestigious book for the ‘largest professional oil painting by a single artist’ for his 166.03 square metre artwork created in the main hall of the India Social and Cultural Centre (ISC) in Abu Dhabi.
His portraits include that of UAE President and Abu Dhabi Amir, Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and UAE Armed Forces Deputy Supreme Commander Shaikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The oil painting is a tribute to India and UAE's long-lasting friendship, the 30-year-old artist said.
"I made this oil painting as part of the 75th year of the Indian independence ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Maholstav’ and the UAE’s Year of 50th celebrations,” he added.
Sarans, who hails from the southern state of Kerala, has broken the previous record which was set by Chinese artist Li Hangyu, Khaleej Times reported.
He wishes to display the portraits at the Expo 2020 Dubai and hopes that the country's rulers will see them.
