A FESTIVAL that promises to be a gastronomic treat will start next week featuring more than 100 restaurants and various entertainment activities.
The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) last night announced the “Food Festival” will be held from March 17 to 31 at the Bahrain Harbour.
The event will appeal to all family members as they will be treated to an entertaining atmosphere and an unforgettable experience, said a statement.
More than 100 local and international restaurants will be participating and offering a rich and varied range of food items catering to all tastes, with attractive exclusive offers and discounts.
The event kicks off during the Formula One race next weekend that is expected to further attract crowds.
“The authority is mobilising all of its resources to organise an exceptional and unprecedented version of this year’s food festival, ensuring full readiness of all of its staff to guarantee the success of the event with the greatest possible efficiency,” said BTEA chief executive Dr Naser Qaedi.
“We expect this significant event to bring more tourists and visitors to Bahrain, as well as provide an integrated entertainment experience for citizens and residents.
“This year’s food festival will provide visitors with the most spectacular shows and experiences that promote Bahrain’s culinary variety.
“We also aim to build on the festival’s positive reputation from past editions and use it as a platform to encourage more people to visit Bahrain.”
The festival will also showcase local and international talent through its “Cooking Corner”, which features several chefs preparing various kinds of cuisine in front of a live audience in an interactive setting.
The BTEA added that Bahraini artists will perform in a variety of musical and artistic acts during the food festival.
Visitors also will have access to a recreational area as well as a children’s play area.
Raffles for prizes will also be held throughout the event in collaboration with local hotels and restaurants.
To register, food vendors can register until Saturday by visiting the BTEA portal.
Among other events lined up this year by the BTEA are Ramadan Nights in April, followed by the Beach Festival from July to September.
Tourism
In November, the authority has three events scheduled – Tourism Awards, a Horse Festival and Bahrain Design Week.
In December, it will be holding events to commemorate National Day and New Year’s Eve, as well as a separate Festival City event.
The BTEA online platform calendar.bh is being updated to showcase Bahrain’s events, exhibitions, festivals and celebrations to help visitors be up-to-date with a lineup of planned activities throughout the year.
The GDN reported last week that the Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed Alzayani told MPs in writing that the tourism sector was expected to generate BD1bn this year, a 100 per cent increase from the BD500 million recorded last year.
He said tourism revenues are expected to reach BD1.5bn in 2023, BD1.7bn in 2024, BD1.9bn in 2025 and BD2bn in 2026.
