MANAMA: Ten MPs have signed a request to the Parliament Speaker for a general discussion to clarify the government’s policy to benefit from the increase in oil prices.
MP Ibrahim Al Nefaie, one of the signatories, said the reason behind the request was that the oil price was adopted on the basis of $50 a barrel when approving the state’s general budget for the fiscal years 2021 and 2022, while the sources concerned with oil affairs indicated that the price of crude oil exported by Bahrain reached $124 a barrel, the highest since 2008.
Bahrain will, therefore, gain more than $18 million per day from the sale of 150,000 barrels a day, he said.
Such positive developments in oil prices require examination of the policies, plans and programmes prepared by the government in this regard, he noted, reports our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
