ARTISTS from across the kingdom brought bursts of colour to Block 338’s F1 Village festivities with an array of radiant race-themed designs and vibrant creations.
The Adliya-based bonanza, which started on March 4, ends today ahead of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix scheduled for this weekend.
It features live music, roaming acts, F1 experiences and the works of multi-disciplinary artists such as Çağla Akpınar.
“My purpose was to bring colour and art to the venue,” said Ms Akpınar, a muralist and Artology art instructor, who painted a variety of F1-themed canvases at the event as well as represented the art commune at their craft stand.
“I have never been a part of such an event before and it will be an unforgettable experience for me! Formula 1 is one of the biggest international events.
“The F1 village was great as it brought art, music, performance, craft, dance and other types of creatives together in this world of racing.”
Ms Akpınar used acrylic paints to honour some drivers and their vehicles and featured some of her works on postcards.
She painted McLaren teammates Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo, Scuderia Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton with Mercedes-AMG Petronas.
“The love, interest and support I received from people who visited the venue for my art was insane,” added Ms Akpınar from Riffa.
“I was so happy that so many people liked what I did and bought my posters and postcards.”
Other artists on show included self-taught Hussain Alnoaimi and architect Isa Mubarak.
Mr Alnoaimi displayed his acrylic art collection ‘The Sound of Colour’, featuring musical legends on canvas.
“Music and colour both hit us in a powerful, memorable and emotional sense,” said Mr Alnoaimi from Hamad Town.
Colour, shadow and harmony can be experienced through art and music and this collection captures those raw emotions.
“At the F1 Village, I created an artwork of the king of pop, Michael Jackson, on canvas, of American singer, songwriter and record producer Stevie Ray Vaughan on recycled wood and of rapper Tupac Shakur on driftwood reclaimed from the beaches of Bahrain.
“I also took the opportunity to finish my Nina Simone piece too.”
Meanwhile, Mr Mubarak, a grotesque artist, featured calligraphy art using spray paint, markers and acrylics.
Aside from art, the F1 Village also included entertainment from local bands and performers such as The Relocators, AQ’s Jazz Experience and more.
The venue also boasts a 2022 F1 car display, a photo opportunity with the F1 World Championship trophy, a ‘Pic Stop’, an Esports Zone, DJ’s and craft stands.
Entrance is free of charge and its open to the public until today from 6pm to 11pm.
