A BAHRAINI man has been jailed for a month for deliberately crashing his vehicle into his sister’s car.
He said he flew into a fit of rage and committed the act after her young children – boys aged six and nine – prodded and nagged him.
The 54-year-old Bahraini drove his vehicle into his victim’s car, which was parked near their home in Isa Town in May last year.
He was found guilty of causing damages to private property and ordered to pay BD400 to his sister by the Lower Criminal Court.
“The defendant purposely drove his car into his sister’s parked vehicle to damage it,” read the court ruling.
“The woman said she had frequent arguments with her brother and he took out his anger by destroying her car.
“The defendant has been found guilty as video footage from CCTV cameras was submitted to the court as evidence.
“The court also trusts the victim’s statements in the case.”
The 39-year-old Bahraini woman alleged that her brother ill-treated her after she divorced her husband and returned to their family home with her children last year.
“He (the defendant) would always pick issues with me and stress me out since I moved back to my family home,” she told prosecutors.
“One day, we had an intense argument and I saw him jump into his vehicle and drive away.
“I was shocked when he drove into my car and damaged it.
“He would always lose his temper and complain about my children nagging him, giving him a headache. He wanted me to leave the house.”
Lawyer Zahed Al Sayed said she will file a compensation claim at the High Civil Court requesting a BD800 additional payment to be made to her client.
“My client suffers psychologically from constant abuse from her brother,” she told the GDN.
“He always caused her distress by abusing her. Luckily she was not inside the car when he ploughed his vehicle into it.
“However, he caused extensive damages to the four-wheeler. My client has been living in fear since then.”
