NINE fire engines and 30 Civil Defence personnel were deployed to battle a blaze that broke out in a labour accommodation in Sitra yesterday morning. No one was injured.
“Nine vehicles and 30 officers and individuals were dispatched to the scene,” said an Interior Ministry statement.
“They were able to control the fire and prevent its spread as well as carry out cooling operations.
“The Civil Defence General Directorate indicated that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire,” the statement said.
Witnesses said clouds of dark smoke could be seen from a distance as firemen attempted to douse the flames.
