IT’S time to pack your beach wear and head to Bilaj Al Jazayer for some fun in the sun as the ‘Bahrain Beach Festival’ kicks off next weekend.
The festival will be inaugurated by Tourism Minister Fatima Al Sairafi on Thursday.
It will thereafter be open to the public from Friday to August 27.
The festival will feature live music acts, children’s activities and games, a variety of food trucks and vendors and plenty of photo opportunities, said the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) in a statement yesterday.
However, it did not mention the timings.
“Though the distinctive beaches at Marassi Al Bahrain and Water Garden City are also included in the festival, the carnival will begin mainly at the new-look Bilaj Al Jazayer, on the southwest coast of Bahrain, which has been reopened as one of the most stunning and famous beaches of Bahrain,” said the statement.
“The festival is aimed at enriching Bahrain’s summer season with several exciting events and activities that encourage local tourism among citizens and residents,” said Ms Al Sairafi.
“The BTEA is working tirelessly to provide a rich and integrated programme, which will be disclosed later,” she added.
“With great determination, we intend to turn this season into a milestone in the busy tourism events programme implemented by the authority throughout the year and increase tourist and visitor numbers.”
The minister affirmed that the festival supported Bahrain’s 2022-2026 tourism strategy, which prioritises marine façades and activities among its key elements, along with business tourism, sports tourism, recreational tourism, medical tourism and cultural tourism, among others.
The festival is part of the rich programme of events that the BTEA organises throughout the year to attract tourists, visitors, citizens and residents, as well as to leverage Bahraini beaches as key attractions.
