Pupils from a Bahrain school have received a ‘thank you’ photo-card from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and a letter from her Lady-in-Waiting for the sweet correspondence they sent to help celebrate the UK royal’s Platinum Jubilee.
The students of the British Preparatory School (BPS) in Saar had penned messages to the Queen’s office at Windsor Castle, congratulating her on her 70 years on the throne.
“We were delighted to receive a letter from the Queen,” said the school’s principal Jasmine Smith. “We genuinely had not anticipated a response as she must have been absolutely inundated.
“The children were beyond excited and thrilled that Her Majesty had taken the time to respond and recognise them. As a British-curriculum school, we value our relationship with the UK and we are greatly touched by the Queen’s letter.”
Pupils were particularly pleased as they had studied her life as well as the historic relations between Bahrain and Great Britain during the celebrations.
“The children were so excited to know that we had received a reply from Buckingham Palace,” said BPS’s Year One teacher, Lauren Greene. “They are already looking forward to writing to Her Majesty again in 2026 to mark the very special occasion of her 100th birthday.”
