71pc expat workers earn less than BD200 a month
True. After Covid-19 most employers are offering a basic contract of BD80 plus allowances, specially hotels and restaurants.
Sanduni Wasana
How pathetic!

Labour price is very low in Bahrain. There is no law in favour of the labour force. Here in the private sector, every company has its own rules; 80 per cent people work for less than BD100 salary. Some people even work the whole month for BD85-BD90, BD200 is too far away.
Imran Warraich
Every company has the same excuse: No business. Doesn’t matter how long the duty hours.
Firdous Mohd
Cleaning and security supply companies are not even paying BD100 for workers and still workers are ignorant about SIO registration.
Sujith Kumar
Salaries in Bahrain are very low in the private sector. That’s why most Indians and Pakistanis are leaving Bahrain. There is no growth and companies load you with two people’s work. Situation is same for blue-collar and white-collar jobs.
Jawad Zia
Some still giving BD90-BD120 salaries applicable so many years ago. Some no food, no holiday, no break just continuous work. Modern day slavery.
Mary Jane Velasco
Those who work in Bahrain do not get fair money. The cost of many goods has increased but our monthly salary has remained the same. We request the Bahraini government to ensure that we get a fair price.
Mohammed Russell
There should be a minimum salary in Bahrain. The lowest salary should be a liveable wage. If you want to see the true value of a job, send all those workers home and see how well Bahrain runs without them, yet you pay them peanuts to literally run this island.
Lee Ann Fleetwood
Sixty per cent of construction workers get paid less than BD90! The government should enact strict laws to monitor the salaries.
Muhibur Rahman
Don’t forget that almost all employers register much lower salaries than are actually paid, to reduce their LMRA costs. So this figure isn’t entirely realistic.
@tariqalalaiwat
How is Bahrain third in the ranking for best countries for expats in the GCC? Even the very term “expats” has a different meaning in different scenarios.
@ashwwiinnn
It’s because many expats rate their lifestyle here as better than the one in their own countries.
@3mrraed
Have you been anywhere else in the Gulf? Or even heard of the abuse the expats are subjected to daily without consequences?
@sergiofx
That survey was done only on white Europeans or American expats, because they earn in thousands of dinars.
@dashingdudez321
Electricity, water and housing bills are very high. It is becoming difficult for the poor to live in these conditions.
@hameedkhanniiazi
Some tea boys and labourers of construction companies earn only BD80 per month.
@vikaymoises
Now this is a more realistic post with truth instead of trying to convince the social media followers that 61pc of expats are happy.
@chickadee1975
You’d be surprised to find out about the percentage of expats who earns less than BD100 a month.
@rahatrk
Government should set minimum wage for expats just as they did for Bahrainis. The only way to solve this issue.
@echojuliet27
61 per cent of expats are happy though.
@rescue.sheep
If you are a white European expat in Bahrain then you are happy because you are earning a lot.
