A young Bahraini rising football star died yesterday after a tragic accident in Hidd involving an electric scooter and a vehicle.
Sources confirmed to the GDN that the 14-year-old victim was Muharraq Football Club player Ahmed Osama Adel, who was a goalkeeper for one of the club’s youth teams.
The Interior Ministry posted a statement regarding the incident, noting that Ahmed and his friend, aged 15, were riding their electric scooter along the Dry Dock Highway when the incident occurred.
Ahmed’s friend, who was identified in online reports as Hidd Football Club player Abdulrahman Al Amer, was injured in the incident, and authorities were on the site, completing relevant procedures.
The Muharraq Football Club posted a tribute to Ahmed on their social media.
“With a heavy heart, resigned to God’s will, the Chairman, Board of Directors, and all members of Al Muharraq Club mourn the passing of the beloved player Ahmed Osama Adel, goalkeeper of the Under-14 football team, who passed away following a tragic accident this evening,” the statement noted.
An official funeral announcement noted that Ahmed will be buried this evening after the Maghrib prayers at the Muharraq cemetery.
The men’s condolence gathering will take place at Juma’an Hall ‘A’ in Busaiteen tomorrow, on Sunday and Monday, from 9am until noon prayers, and from afternoon prayers until night prayers.
The women’s condolence gathering will take place at the Abdullah Ahmed Naas Mosque in Hidd on the same days from 4pm until night prayers.
