Kuwait has sentenced an Egyptian man in absentia for crimes of embezzlement.
The verdict, handed out by Kuwaiti Criminal Court, sentenced him to two years in prison in addition to ordering him to return the funds he embezzled before he escaped to his country.
He has been accused of stealing KD540,000 by forging invoices and registering goods that do not exist, before transferring the money to his account in Egypt.
The man committed the crimes during his employment at the Fahaheel Cooperative Society, which discovered his crimes after he had left the country.
