MANAMA: Bahrain’s Ambassador to Egypt and Arab League Permanent Representative Hisham Al Jowder headed yesterday Bahrain’s delegation to the extraordinary meeting of the Economic and Social Council at the ministerial level.
Discussions focused on the ongoing preparations for the next Arab Summit, in its 31st regular session. It was also agreed to include a number of economic and social issues among the priorities of joint Arab development work on the summit’s agenda.
The Bahraini delegation comprised assistant under-secretary for international cooperation affairs at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy Nawaf Hashem Al Sada, and Arab countries relations head at the ministry, Abdulla Al Aradi.
Meanwhile, Russia’s top diplomat will address the Arab League at its Cairo headquarters on Sunday, the organisation said, days after Russia took part in a summit hosted by Iran. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov of Russia will meet Arab League head Ahmed Aboul Gheit and representatives of the 22 nations that make up the pan-Arab bloc, the Arab League said yesterday.
