BAHRAINI youth form the main pillar of the nation, and investing in them was necessary to achieve UN Sustainable Development Goals, said Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman pointed to the close attention paid by the King to the nation’s young people.
In a statement marking International Youth Day, observed globally today, Shaikh Nasser also praised His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for supporting the youth of Bahrain.
The day is being marked this year under the theme, ‘Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages’.
“Empowering Bahraini youth through developing their creative skills enhances their abilities to help achieve Sustainable Development Goals,” said Shaikh Nasser yesterday.
SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa also praised the progress of Bahraini youth in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad.
He praised the King’s role in laying strong foundations for empowering the youth and enabling them to hold high positions in the government, under the follow-up and supervision of HRH Prince Salman.
Meanwhile, parliamentary figures described the youth as the beating heart of the nation thanks to their considerable contributions to the kingdom’s development and progress and their prominent role in boosting growth as well as building a state of institutions under the rule of law.
They expressed great pride in the honorable achievements of Bahraini youth in all fields, which translates His Majesty’s directives and the comprehensive aspirations to involve the youth in drawing up and implementing the ambitious national plans and programmes.
