His Majesty King Hamad has reaffirmed Bahrain’s firm stance that disputes must be settled through peaceful and diplomatic means.
Rejection of terrorism, violence and extremism will also meet the aspirations of peoples of the world for security, stability and prosperity, he said during official talks with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris yesterday.
The two leaders discussed regional and international issues that pose a threat to international peace and security.
They also reviewed the climate challenges facing the world and discussed mechanisms of co-ordination to address them, to ensure the protection of the global environment through international initiatives under the framework of the UN and its agencies.
The leaders stressed the importance of developing bilateral relations, particularly in the economic, trade, investment, cultural and tourism sectors.
His Majesty praised the pivotal role played by France in strengthening stability in the world, hailing its ‘commendable’ efforts to enhance global peace despite the ongoing challenges.
An official reception ceremony was held at the palace in His Majesty’s honour on his arrival where he was welcomed by President Macron.
The King arrived in France from Egypt where he attended a regional consultative summit with the leaders of Egypt, the UAE and Jordan.
