The Nasser bin Hamad Premier League 2022-2023 kicks off today.
Bahrain Football Association board chairman Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs, and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa represented qualitative leaps at the organisational, technical and competitive levels of the league over the past four seasons.
“Shaikh Nasser is supportive of sports in Bahrain, particularly football, indicating that his patronage of the league confirms his keenness on developing sports in the kingdom,” he said.
Following directives of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first vice-chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Bahrain Football Association has approved an increase in total prize money allocated to the Nasser bin Hamad Premier League champions for the 2022-2023 season, on an exceptional basis.
The first-placed team will receive a financial reward of $200,000, while the runner-up will receive $130,000, and third-placed $90,000.
Clubs ranked from fourth to 12th and those winning individual prizes in each round will also receive financial rewards.
The association has also taken steps to motivate fans and the media.
