THAI delicacies are being showcased during a three-day food festival which opened last night at Thai Mart, Diyar Al Muharraq.
The second edition of Thai Halal Products in Bahrain offers a variety of well-known Thai halal food such as fruits, snacks, desserts as well as herbs, coffee and tea.
Organised by Thai Mart, the event is held in co-operation with The Royal Thai Embassy and the Thailand Tourism Authority. It was opened in the presence of Thai Ambassador-designate Piyapak Sricharoen.
“This is the second event that we are holding here with our partner Thai Mart,” Mr Sricharoen told the GDN.
“We want to highlight that Thailand is a very strong manufacturer of food and halal products.”
He called on people in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia to visit the festival to enjoy Thai food and sample authentic products.
“Last year’s event was a success and so we decided to hold it this year and we are expecting around 10,000 people to visit the stalls,” he said.
“Among those represented here are the best Thai restaurants and so those who miss Thai food can come to Thai Mart and sample many dishes at the same time.”
Entertainment activities have also been planned including a wishing tree, where the luckiest participant will receive a complimentary three-night stay at a five-star hotel in Bangkok inclusive of breakfast, and a Thai Spicy Food Eating Contest.
Additionally, attendees will be treated to live performances at the event which comes to a close on Saturday.
Timings are from 6pm to 11pm today and from 6pm to 10pm tomorrow.
