BAHRAIN’S Miss Universe 2022 Evlin Khalifa will be dazzling onlookers tomorrow in Dubai Design District as she parades down the catwalk during Arab Fashion Week (AFW).
The 24-year-old model and pianist from Riffa will open the premier show for the Dubai-based brand, Amato by Furne One, and she is ‘beyond thrilled’ at the opportunity.
“It has always been my dream to walk on the runway of Arab Fashion Week and now that dream will finally come to life,” said Ms Khalifa, who has worked with photographic and video campaigns from both international brands such as Dior Beauty, MAC Cosmetics, Laura Mercier, Jewellery Arabia’s Hublot, Bvlgari and Frederique Constant.
“This is even more special as I will be walking for the world-renowned fashion designer to the royalties and stars, Furne Amato of Amato Couture,” she added.
“This whole journey of Miss Universe has been incredible so far. I have also been preparing to represent the Gulf region in the global stage of Miss Universe.”
The six-day fashion event, which starts today and is organised by the Arab Fashion Council with Yugen PR events management company, will feature Spring Summer 2023 Ready-To-Wear and Couture FW runway shows.
More than 35 designers will take part in the event that also includes international collaborations and roundtable talks and activations.
The Giving Movement UAE-based brand will debut its new range of clothing on the catwalk, while Atelier Forger will take centre stage as the first Syrian label to showcase at Arab Fashion Week.
Emerging and established designers from as far afield as Mexico, Nicaragua, Thailand, Malaysia and Ukraine will also be participating for the first time – and these are in addition to names from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Turkey, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, France, the UK, the Philippines, Poland, Romania, Paraguay and Belarus. Twenty-three countries will be represented in total.
