A TOP Indian businessman will be honoured at a special ceremony being organised by the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) on Friday.
The event will celebrate the achievements of K G Baburajan, who was presented with the Pravasi Bahratiya Samman Award in 2021 for his contributions in engineering, philanthropic and socio-cultural fields.
The award is the highest honour bestowed by the Indian government on Indian nationals working abroad.
“We are happy to announce a grand ceremony to honour his remarkable achievements,” said BKS president PV Radhakrishna Pillai at a Press conference at the samajam premises in Segaiya yesterday.
“He is a great supporter of the Indian diaspora in Bahrain, both financially and morally, and deserves the award.”
The conference was also attended by BKS general secretary Varghese Karakkal, membership secretary Dileesh Kumar, entertainment committee convener Devan Palode and Dhum Dhalakka programme co-ordinators Riyas Ibrahim and Manoj Sadgamaya.
Mr Baburajan, who is the BKG Holding Company president, is a well-respected businessman who owns establishments in Bahrain and India.
He has managed more than 2,600 projects during his 23 years in Bahrain, including the King Fahad Causeway Project in 1986.
The honouring event will be attended by several prominent political leaders from Kerala including MPs N K Premachandran and Ramesh Chennithala, former minister of the Kerala state governement G Sudhakaran and Kerala state Bharatiya Janata Party vice-president Sobha Surendran.
The ceremony will be followed by a music and dance fusion show, dance performances by South Indian movie star Swasika, and music fusion by Sa Re Ga Ma Pa music reality show fame Sreejesh, renowned saxophonist and Mazhavil Manorama fame Kishore, and renowned keyboard artist Ramachandran.
More than 300 artists from Bahrain will also be performing.
The programme will start at 6pm at the BKS Diamond Jubilee Hall on Friday and entry is free for all.
