LEBANESE musician Omar Rahbany and the Passport Chamber Ensemble are set to serenade audiences with a memorable performance at the Cultural Hall tomorrow.
The Ensemble is an eclectic and polyvalent musical collective formed by a selection of musicians chosen for their versatility, technical skills and musical openness.
The talented artists will take the stage to blur the borders between classical, pop, folk, jazz and Arabic.
The event is part of the 17th edition of Spring of Culture that continues this week.
More than 50 activities including performances, workshops, exhibitions and tours have been lined up as part of the festival that kicked off on January 19. It will continue until the end of March.
World-class violinist André Rieu, known as the ‘King of Waltz’, is set to enchant audiences today, accompanied by the vibrant Johann Strauss Orchestra. André’s incredible musical prowess, passion and charisma make for a magical spectacle and the concert will begin at Al Dana Amphitheatre at 8.30pm.
A movie will also be screened as part of the Japanese Film Festival tomorrow.
On-Gaku: Our Sound, a story about three high school troublemakers forming a rock ‘n’ roll band, will be shown at the Bahrain National Museum Auditorium at 6pm. The movie, selected from the Japanese Film Library, will have English subtitles.
Art lovers can look forward to a Design Symposium at the Al Riwaq Art Space this weekend. Al Riwaq launched Majal, a pilot design initiative in 2022 to survey the local design community and landscape. Focused on maintaining a sustainable sense of practice and looking at local production, this symposium, tomorrow and Saturday from 10am to noon, invites visitors to reflect on the future of design practices in Bahrain.
On Saturday, join the Dar Shabab Al Hidd Band for a special concert highlighting the arts of AlArdhah, Al-Fjiri, Al-Sout, Daq Al-Hab and more. The band gained fame on local and Gulf levels, thanks to its participation in the celebrations of Eid Al Fitr, Eid Al Adha, national holidays, weddings, sea traditions and other occasions. Catch the band live at Dar Al Muharraq at 8pm.
An exciting Pearling Path e-Scooter Tour will be held in the heart of the historic city of Muharraq on Saturday. Participants will discover the Pearling Path through the alleyways that stretch for a distance of 3.5km, starting from Qal’at Bu Mahir at the southern tip of the island and reaching Siyadi Majlis in the north. A traditional breakfast stop will be included for an exceptional experience in collaboration with e-scooter Bahrain. The tour begins at 9am from Qal’at Bu Mahir. On Sunday at 8pm, Dr Mubarak Rabei will deliver a lecture on the challenges facing Arab cultures in producing their own knowledge while lagging behind the global community, and how to remedy this huge gap. The lecture, Arab Culture in a Changing World, will be held at the Bahrain National Museum Auditorium.
Next Tuesday at 8pm, Bahraini musician Ala Ghawas will serenade audiences at the Cultural Hall with a selection of songs, both in Arabic and English, from his nine albums released throughout his 15 year-long career. The independent musician and bilingual singer-songwriter from Bahrain, is celebrated as one of the most influential artists of his generation.
Bahraini artist Nabeela Al Khayer will hold a solo exhibition from February 20. Ms Al Khayer translates what her eyes see into distinctive visual works that reflect a vibrant, abundant feeling, through which she presents her artistic palette. Each of her works reflects a part of her soul, dipped in colour and painted on a canvas, full of spirit and life. The exhibition at Albareh Art Gallery is open from Saturday to Thursday from 9am to 1.30pm, and 4pm to 8pm.
Jordanian singer, actress and vocalist Hind Hamed will headline a free concert on Monday at 8pm.
Ms Hamed, who has appeared in several television series, started her artistic career in 2011 in the field of broadcasting, dubbing and audio. Her albums include Jawa, Early Childhood Songs and Musical Tickles.
The concert will be held at Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research.
On Wednesday, Dr Bouchaib Saouri will deliver a lecture on the experiences of travel literature throughout the ages, as well as the developing interests of travellers in terms of the form and content of their writings.
The talk, The Arab Journey at the Beginning of the Third Millennium: Constants and Transformations, begins at 8pm at the Bahrain Writers Association, Zinj.
